The meeting between Lou Marini and Enzo Zirilli took place a few years ago in London, at the famous Ronnie Scott, where the legendary saxophonist was on the bill with the Blues Brothers (the only member of the original band in the film); followed by Enzo Zirilli with his group ZiroBop. At the end of their respective sets, a fiery jam session was born and the common intention to play together again. Lou Marini's collaborations are innumerable and embrace a vast horizon of music (Frank Zappa, James Taylor, Donald Fagen, Steely Dan, just to name a few), such as those of Enzo Zirilli (Dado Moroni, Gloria Gaynor, Enrico Pieranunzi, Liane Carroll, Jim Mullen), which join those of his other excellences of Italian Jazz, Gianluca Di Ienno (Fabrizio Bosso, Bebo Ferra) and Alessandro Chiappetta (Paolo Fresu, Roberto Gatto, Ares Tavolazzi), giving life to a supergroup that ranges, with absolute freedom, between original compositions and classics of Jazz, Soul and Funk, for an absolutely unmissable concert.
Louis Marini (of clear Italian origins), whose father was a master of the American navy band, is also known by the pseudonym Blue Lou. He plays soprano, alto, and tenor sax, flute, piccolo, alto flute, clarinet, and percussion and is also an arranger and composer. At the age of ten, Lou took clarinet lessons from his father and Frank Corbi, then studied jazz in Dallas. In 1971 he moved to New York. A member of the band on the television show Saturday Night Live from 1975 to 1983, he played himself in the films "The Blues Brothers" [truly iconic and unforgettable, with his mustache and long flowing hair, while he plays his sax standing on the counter of the tavern where he works, while Aretha Franklin sings "Think!" to her husband. Ed.] and "Blues Brothers: The Myth Continues." He owes his worldwide fame to these and other television and film appearances, while previously being a member of Blood, Sweat & Tears. His prestigious collaborations include Frank Zappa, Dionne Warwick, Aretha Franklin, James Taylor, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Eric Clapton, Bill Evans, Gerry Mulligan, Aerosmith, the Rolling Stones, Donald Fagen and Peter Tosh. This living legend is accompanied by Alex 'Kid' Gariazzo on guitar and vocals, Alessandro Chiappetta on guitar, Gianluca Di Ienno on Hammond organ and Enzo Zirilli on drums.
