Composed of five young Catalan musicians bursting with energy, talent, and enthusiasm, El Pony Pisador is currently one of the most prominent folk bands in Catalonia. Their performances are extraordinarily captivating, unpredictable, joyful, engaging, and of the highest quality. If we were to blend the world of J.R.R. Tolkien with that of Monty Python, add a generous dose of irrepressible contemporary folk energy, and heap on a wagonload of talent, the resulting sound would likely resemble El Pony Pisador! The band has released three albums to date, the most recent featuring a collaboration with The Longest Johns, the renowned English band that gained critical and public acclaim worldwide for their revival of Sea Shanties. In April 2023, at FolkClub, El Pony Pisador opened for The Longest Johns, earning overwhelming praise from all present. In 2024, the band released their fourth album, "Ocells": 11 tracks capturing the richness of traditional Catalan music, blending it with modern sounds and exploring themes ranging from medieval tales to humorous stories and children's fables. Additionally, the album includes collaborations with Valencian singer Jonatan Penalba and Catalan vocal duo Tarta Relena. To date, the band has accumulated over 6 million streams across their catalog, with their steadily growing fan base showing no signs of slowing down. El Pony Pisador has performed throughout Europe, appearing at prestigious festivals such as Eurofolk in Germany, Appingedam Folk in the Netherlands, the North Sea Folk & Shanties Festival in Belgium, and the Severn Seas Festival in the UK, among others. They have also brought their music to Canada at La Fête des Chants Marins and to the United States at the Bay City Maritime Festival. This year, the band completed a successful tour in Australia, performing six sold-out shows in the southwest region of the island, including at the Albany International Folk and Shanty Festival. Preparations are already underway for their next tour, scheduled for early 2025. The year 2023 was exceptionally busy for the group, with over 50 concerts, culminating in their first-ever Asian performance at the Hozo Music Festival in Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). 2024 began on a high note: in February, El Pony Pisador was invited to perform in the United States at the Folk Alliance International in Kansas City. In just a short time, El Pony Pisador has achieved global recognition, and we are confident that their meteoric rise is no fleeting phenomenon!
