In the mid-60s a small group of African musicians left the country where they lived for good, starting a real pilgrimage that took them from France to Switzerland and from Scandinavia to England through no less difficulties than those encountered in leaving their homeland. African of origin. Slightly preceded by Dollar Brand (now Abdullah Ibrahim) and Hugh Masekela, these artists came together under the meaningful name of Brotherhood of Breath and some of them still today remain emblematic figures of the work of conjunction between rhythmic melodic traditions typical of Xhosa, Bantu, Kwela, Mbaqanga and other tribal cultures and African American Jazz, giving life to an original, strong and vital music like few others. These artists were called Chris McGregor, Louis Moholo, Mongezi Feza, Dudu Pukwana, Johnny Dyani, Harry Miller, Nik Moyake.
For this unique occasion, four exceptional Italian jazz players, Roberto Ottaviano (sax), Paolino Dalla Porta (double bass), Enzo Zirilli (drums and percussion) and Alfonso Santimone (piano), join Byron Wallen, considered one of the most innovative, exciting and original trumpet players in the world, to pay homage, together, to the music and commitment of this group of extraordinary artists and men who was Brotherhood of Breath, through careful and original reinterpretation of some of their magnificent compositions.
